Do you perform spinal manipulation on children? Do you take your child to a chiropractor for such treatment? Or do you have a strong view on whether this is safe?
Safer Care Victoria is seeking a wide variety of experiences and views to inform an independent review of chiropractic spinal manipulation on children younger than 12.
The Engage Victoria survey asks parents and carers who have accessed chiropractic spinal care for their child the reasons why they accessed the care, whether they were satisfied with the information provided on the benefits and risks and if there were adverse effects.
The survey is also open to health practitioners for comment.
Safer Care Victoria established an independent panel following public concern about unsafe spinal manipulation on children under 12 by chiropractors.
The panel will:
- review available evidence
- take public submissions from healthcare practitioners, organisations and the wider community.
The panel will provide advice to Safer Care Victoria during this review.
Safer Care Victoria will provide its findings to the Minister for Health and any recommendations made to the Council of Australian Governments Health Council.
Consultation will run until 21 June 2019. For more information, go to engage.vic.gov.au.
