Role of the council
The council is one of the key mechanisms for Safer Care Victoria to engage with consumers and ensure the perspectives and needs of patients, their families and carers, and community are represented in health service:
- development plans
- improvement goals
- program implementation and evaluation.
The council supports the development of strategies to lead improvements in health service quality and safety at an individual care, health service and system-wide level.
Based on a partnership and shared leadership model, the council is informed by a generative thinking approach. This approach gives a structure for brainstorming and analysing research to produce new ideas, and create shared organisational values and culture.
